The Governing Youth Council also known as GYC, is a high school program that promotes anti-drug, anti-violence, safety and service through learning opportunities.
Governing Youth Council members from both North Sevier and Richfield recently took part in a GYC summit in St. George, Utah where they had the opportunity to participate in leadership training, a service project for kids in Primary Children’s Hospital, and other growth and learning activities.
The purpose of GYC is to promote self-esteem, develop healthy and safe lifestyle choices, become involved in service learning opportunities and develop mutual respect and friendship among the students of local High Schools.
Any youth interested in participating can contact their local GYC coordinator. For Wayne, Piute, and Sevier County the coordinator is Tracey Wells. She can be contacted at Central Utah Counseling Center at (435)896-8236.
